DUNBAR Cricket Club’s excellent start to the season continued with a 74-run win over OCCC at Winterfield on Saturday.
The hosts lost the toss and were asked to bat first.
They made a poor start as they lost Anderson early on.
That brought Nigel Binnie to the crease alongside Jonathan Newell, and the opener put on a majestic display as he smashed his way to 140 not out to guide Dunbar through their 40 overs.
Binnie aided him with 43, for a second-wicket partnership of 109 as the hosts finished on 229-5.
OCCC never looked like chasing it down and were content to bat through their overs to gain points.
Once again, a good display in the field with the ball saw the visitors finish on 155-8, while there were a pair of wickets apiece for Cameron Bell and Dave Dickinson.
Phil Savage, Steve Vance and Andy McGee each claimed a wicket, while Newell contributed to the fielding effort with a direct hit run out and wicketkeeper Binnie snapped up three catches and a stumping to complete a good day.
Dunbar are level on points with Melrose at the top of ESCA Division 5, and the two sides are set to clash in the Borders on Saturday.
