MUSSELBURGH Athletic fell further into the relegation mire as they lost at home to Linlithgow Rose yesterday (Wednesday) evening.
Burgh went into the match needing just a point to ensure their East Superleague place for next season, but goals from Blair Batchelor and Tommy Coyne either side of the break secured the visitors the points.
Burgh now must get at least a point from their final league game of the season, at Jeanfield Swifts on Saturday.
A point at the Riverside Stadium could still see Calvin Shand's side face a play-off with the third-place East Premier League side to avoid the drop, but that will depend on games outwith Burgh's control.
