TWO East Lothian rugby stars have been named in an extended training squad for Scotland Women 7s first camp of 2017. 

Megan Gaffney, from North Berwick, and Lizzi Musgrove, who stays near Drem, are part of the 20-player squad for the camp at Oriam, in Edinburgh, this weekend. 

The camp will be a first in charge for Scott Wight, the Scotland men's 7s player and Commonwealth Games athlete from 2014, who was announced as the side's new head coach yesterday (Wednesday).

Gaffney (pictured below, right, by Adrian Henry) has represented Scotland Women 7s previously, but will be Musgrove's first involvement with the national set-up.

The squad an will compete in two warm-up competitions, before travelling to the Czech Republic and Hungary for the Rugby Europe Women's Sevens Trophy over two weekends in June and July.

Gaffney will be hoping to add to her six 7s caps, while Musgrove could win her first Scotland cap in her first year of playing the sport.
