FORMER Musselburgh RFC man Ally Miller has taken his first steps in the professional game, after signing a two-year deal with Edinburgh Rugby.

Miller, from Longniddry, represented London Scottish during the opening half of the season, having impressed for Scotland U20 last term.

The 20-year-old made 15 appearances for the Exiles, before he was called into the Scotland 7s squad for the North American legs of the HSBC World Series.

Yesterday (Tuesday), he was named in the national 7s squad for this year’s Hong Kong Sevens.

Miller said: "Signing for the club was always a goal of mine.

“Signing a fully pro-deal is the next step-up in my career, and I’m excited for what lies ahead.”

Duncan Hodge, the club's acting head coach, added: “We’ve been tracking Ally for a while now, and feel that his time as part of the BT Sport Academy and at London Scottish has served him well.

“He’s a mobile back-row and his style of play suits our attacking mind-set, so we’re excited to see what he has to offer at the club."

He joins North Berwick trio Tom Brown, Chris Dean and Lewis Carmichael at the Capital club.
