RUGBY aces Megan Gaffney and Lizzi Musgrove helped the University of Edinburgh to the BUCS Women's Rugby Union Championship this afternoon (Thursday).
Gaffney, from North Berwick, led the way with a hat-trick, while her Scotland Women colleague Rhona Lloyd also crossed for three tries in the 48-5 thrashing of Northumbria University.
Her fellow North Berwick star Musgrove also added her name to the list of scorers for the Capital university side, who led 10-0 at half-time.
Gaffney, capped 25 times by Scotland Women including five in the recent Six Nations, was at the heart of much of the University's play, and was named player of the match.
Northumbria scored a late try, but it was merely a consolation efffort.
Post-match, Gaffney praised the efforts of her team-mates in clinching the title.
She said: "I had an easy job - I just had to run them in.
"Full credit has to go to the team, that was a complete team performance.
"That was the best we've played all year."
