SCOTLAND 7s star Ally Miller earned praise for his performances, despite a 13th-place finish at the Vancouver leg of the HSBC World Series at the weekend.
Miller, from Longniddry, made only his second appearance for the national sevens side, having made his debut in Las Vegas last weekend.
However, his performances, including four tries, won praise from Calum MacRae, head coach.
He said: “Ally Miller showed how dominant a ball carrier he can be.
“For his further development as a XVs player, he will have taken a lot from playing at this level of competition.
“It’s a tough schooling but he coped well.”
Miler scored his first try for Scotland 7s in the opener against the hosts, before adding a second of the event against Kenya.
The former Scotland U20 cap added a third in the win over France – Scotland’s first win of the weekend – before scoring his fourth in the final match, against Japan.
Scotland 7s are now in eighth place in the series, ahead of next month’s Hong Kong tournament.
Academy prospect Miller is now expected to return to London Scottish, where he has made 15 appearances since joining on loan at the beginning of the season.
