Forrester 5 North Berwick 50

A 23-point haul from Angus Elder saw North Berwick thrash Forrester in the shadows of BT Murrayfield on Thursday evening.

Elder crossed for a hat-trick of tries, and, taking on the kicking duties from the unavailable Liam West, added four conversions in the eight try rout to complete an impressive personal haul.

North Berwick made a perfect start when Liam's brother Murray West dived over out wide, and they doubled their lead as full-back Connor Johnson went over moments later.

Elder's evening off the tee got off to a bad start, as he missed both conversions, but the visitors led 0-10.

A clever pass by Findlay Graham then set up West for his second, and Elder's conversion extended the lead, before the NB centre crossed for his first try.

Elder converted his own try, for a 0-24 half-time advantage.

North Berwick came out the blocks quicker in the second half, too, as Matt Sanderson crashed over before the home side – who moved the match to nearby Murrayfield Wanderers to have it played under lights – grabbed a consolation try.

Cal Mark barged his way over the line for North Berwick's sixth score, before Elder's late brace completed his hat-trick.

They are eight points behind current league leaders Hawick Harlequins, with Murrayfield Wanderers second, three points behind Quins but with two games in hand.
