Three club members – Claire Campbell, Dillon Beveridge and Robbie Pritchard – all came through their first competitions to win gold in sparring, much to the delight of Brad Robertson, their coach.

Brad, a three-time world champion, said he was “absolutely delighted” and added: “Their excellent performances were down to all the hard work and effort they put in at training.”

After winning her sparring category, Campbell was asked if she would compete in a heavier weight group, which she did, and put in some impressive displays to claim the her second gold medal of the event.

To add to her delight, her twin sons Ryan and Kyle were also in top form, as Ryan won two golds and a silver, while Kyle also won a pair of gold medals.

Robertson hailed their efforts as a “superb family achievement”.
