HADDINGTON head coach Rhodri Thomas insists that his side will do their best to pressure the teams at the top of the National League Division 3 table.

The Reds currently sit in sixth place, but Thomas is still optimistic they can achieve their pre-season goal of promotion, despite being nine points behind second-place Dumfries Saints.

Haddington are in good form, and have won each of their last three outings away from home, but Thomas lamented their poor showings at home so far this year.

A first Neilson Park victory of 2017 still awaits the Reds, who have lost their three most recent fixtures in Haddington.

Thomas told Courier Sport: “Our away form throughout the season has been excellent, with bonus point-wins away at places like Orkney, Lasswade and Highland.

“Unfortunately, our home form has not been at the level it was last season, and that is something we need to address.”

Thomas is, though, hopeful that the squad will continue on the run which has seen Perthshire, Greenock Wanderers and Highland all beaten on the road.

Thomas added: “Our promotion hopes took a dent with narrow defeats against St Boswells and Dalziel, but we want to keep it interesting right until the end of the season by winning our games.

“As a group we are still working hard and aiming to put pressure on the teams above us by continuing our current good form.”

The 39-year-old is looking forward to the Reds’ return to league action, as they welcome Lasswade to Neilson Park on Saturday.

He added: “The players are focused on one game at a time and are aiming for another win this weekend against Lasswade and to keep applying pressure on the teams above us in the league.”
