UNDEFEATED boxing star Josh Taylor will step into the ring on Saturday night aiming to make it eight wins out of eight.

The Prestonpans fighter will square off against Alfonso Olvera at the world-famous MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

The 26-year-old has been simply unstoppable so far after turning professional in 2015.

Taylor (pictured) has won all seven of his professional fights and will be aiming to make it eight against his 27-year-old opponent.

Speaking to Courier Sport earlier this month, he said: “I’m looking to start 2017 where I left off in 2016 and keep to my winning ways and put on a good strong performance.

“I can’t wait to get stuck into training and see what Vegas is about.”

The fight is on the undercard of the Carl Frampton and Leo Santa Cruz bout for the WBA Super World Featherweight title, which Frampton won last July.

However, Taylor’s Commonwealth Super Lightweight title will not be on the line, with the Tartan Tornado hoping to be fighting again at the Meadowbank Arena in March.

Taylor’s last bout came at the Edinburgh venue, when he stopped Dave Ryan in the fifth round to lift the title.

It was the first time Taylor had been beyond the second round and saw him keep up his impressive record of stopping his opponent in every bout.

Meanwhile, Olvera comes into the fight on the back of a victory in August over Jose Marrufo.

Olvera, who is based in Arizona, has a record of eight wins, two defeats and one draw from his 11 fights.
