TRANENT Juniors have appointed an interim coaching staff. who will take over "for the foreseeable future".

Kenny Rafferty and Darren Smith will take on the running of the East Premier League side, replaced Gary Small in the dugout at Foresters Park this month.

Small, who led the Belters to their first South Division title in almost 20 years last season, left for "non-footballing reasons".

Now, the club has confirmed Rafferty - assistant to Small - and veteran midfielder Smith, who is from the town, will continue in their roles until further notice.

A statement was issued by the club this afternoon (Wednesday).

It read: "On the back of three fantastic performances the players are playing with a smile again and behind the scenes the club is in a much better place therefore we see no reason for change.

"Both Kenny and Darren are fully supportive of our decision and are very much looking forward to preparing the players for our derby against Haddington at Foresters on January 7.

"We would like to thank all applicants for applying for the vacant Managers position, however at this time the committee feel the right people to lead the club forward are both Kenny and Darren."
