NORTH Berwick ace Tom Brown has been named Edinburgh Rugby's Player of the Month for November.

The 26-year-old former Law Primary School pupil pipped stand-off Jason Tovey, and Scotland internationalists Ben Toolis and Magnus Bradbury to the award.

The once-capped Scotland winger was "delighted" to have won, and reflected on the season so far.

He said: "It has been good to have a bit of consistency and I'm just really enjoying playing at the moment, and getting a few results as well."

Brown also reflected on a change in playing style since Duncan Hodge took over from Alan Solomons as head coach.

"We always want to get our hands on the ball and it's been good the last few weeks, the wingers have seen a bit of the ball," he added.

The club stalwart, who is nearing his 100th appearance, is looking forward to facing Stade Francais and Glasgow Warriors in European and Pro12 action this month.

He added: "We had the Harlequins match here a few weeks ago and that was a great day for the club.

"We're looking forward to trying to replicate that against Stade.

"The Glasgow game is a big game in our season and it's got a bit of a buzz about it already – we have to just take things one game at a time though."

Brown missed the club's 31-22 defeat to Ospreys on Friday evening, while another former North Berwick man, Chris Dean, lasted less than two minutes before he was forced off injured.

Lewis Carmichael, a third ex-North Berwick starlet, appeared as a late replacement.
