SWIMMERS from Tranent Amateur Swimming Club (TASC) enjoyed enjoying success at the weekend.

Saturday saw competitors take part in the final round of the Lothian Leagues competition, where TASC were competing in a number of age groups.

In the 8/9 boys age group, the youngest in the competition, Tranent’s team emerged with a third place finish.

Ross Anderton, Findlay Brown, Hunter Crooks, Joe Little, and Bruce Weatherhead were used throughout all three rounds rotating between strokes, and lowered their personal best times in multiple strokes.

Meanwhile, in the 10/11 girls age group, the TASC team entered the final round in second place, only a single point behind the leaders.

In an action packed morning, with some terrific races, Tranent came out on top, beating 19 other teams from throughout Edinburgh, the Lothians and Borders, including some of the biggest clubs in Scotland, to secure victory.

Katie Anderton, Libby Duke, Sophie Ferguson, Lucy Pryde, Emily Russell, and Megan Stewart all put in great performances throughout the three rounds and have made consistent progress in the past six months as they went on to secure the win.

Ross Mathieson, head coach, said: "The performances in each round have been absolutely fantastic and it’s been great to see swimmers of all ages, from different squads in the club come together and support each other.

"We’re delighted with the progress that the swimmers are making and we’re really excited for the future.”

The following day saw a large group of the club’s younger swimmers take part in the Musselburgh Summer Fun Meet.

The meet was an opportunity for newer swimmers to gain some experience in competitive swimming and a number of Tranent’s Bronze Squad swimmers certainly enjoyed the occasion, with many swimming personal best times and collecting medals.

There were also great swims throughout the day by a number of Silver and Gold Squad swimmers. The event certainly provided strong competition and gave the youngsters some good experience and confidence with some competing for the first time.
