A SCOTLAND U20 side featuring four county aces fell to defeat to Australia on Monday evening.
The Scotland youngsters were in touch on the hour mark, but fell away in the final quarter and were beaten 35-19 in Salford.
Ally Miller, the former Preston Lodge and Musselburgh player, caught the eye from number eight, while Matt McPhillips was impressive in the centre on just his second start.
North Berwick's Callum Hunter-Hill partnered captain, and try scorer, Scott Cummings, in the second row until he was replaced by Alex Craig mid-way through the second half.
And Scott Burnside, also North Berwick, made an appearance for the last 15 minutes, replacing Jamie Ritchie in the back-row.
Tries from Robbie Nairn and Hugh Fraser had kept John Dalziel's side in touch, but they were unable to repeat their historic victory on matchday one.
They will now face Grand Slam winners Wales to contest 7th and 8th place on Saturday.
