COUNTY boxing ace Josh Taylor will hope to extend his unbeaten professional record in America next month.

The Prestonpans fighter has been confirmed as part of the undercard of stablemate Carl Frampton's WBA Super World featherweight title fight with Leo Santa Cruz.

Taylor, a former Olympian and Commonweath Games gold medallist, confirmed his return to the ring through social media.

Last week, he tweeted: "Dragging myself back out on the roads today. Building on the fitness for July 30."

The fight will be Taylor's sixth since turning professional a year ago, and the 23-year-old has been in imperious form in each of his bouts.

Taylor, nicknamed the Tartan Tornado, has not gone beyond the second round in any of his previous five fights.

He told Courier Sport he is looking forward to travelling to New York.

"It's great for me to get this experience so early on in my career.

"It will be the biggest arena I've fought at but it's good to get these chances."

Taylor will return to the ring at the Barclay Center in New York on July 30, against an opponent yet to be confirmed.

He added: "I'm going to be living and preparing over there for the last four weeks of training for fight night.

"I love how boxing has given me opportunities like these to go all over theworld and see these places.

"I love my job and I am truly blessed."

Earlier this week, the county ace's training regime included a sparring session with Frampton, the WBA Super World featherwight champion.

The Tartan Tornado said it had been "a great experience" to spar with the 29-year-old Northern Irishman as they both began their preparations for the trip to New York.
