The 2016 motorcycle racing season kicks off at East Fortune race circuit this weekend, when the Melville Club hosts the first two rounds of the Scottish ACU Championships and the much fought over Club Championships.

The full race programme features some of Scotland's best bike and sidecar racers, including previous Superbike champion, Torquil Paterson, moving to the Superstock 600 class.

Andrew Tasker is looking forward to putting his new Kawasaki ZX10R through its paces at East Fortune having won the Ken Redfern Trophy for the second consecutive year at Croft Circuit with two race wins and two second place finishes.

He is hoping to make it three title wins in the Superbike class. His sister Sammi is on top form too having set her own personal best lap time at Croft on her Suzuki GSXR600.

Gifford's talented teen racer, Lewis Rollo, is now competing in British Superbikes and the club wishes him all the best.

Haddington's Paul McClung returns in the Scottish Lightweights class and will be up against another Haddington racer, Mark Leonard.

Other county riders to look out for include Colvin Denholm, Roddy Hutchison, Richard Beaumont, Stuart Higgins, Andy Dunnet and Martin Harrison.

Duncan Baillie, whose parents lives in North Berwick, will passenger Alan Shand aboard a 1000cc BMW sidecar as well as riding his Ducati.

Classes include Superbikes, Superstock 600, Lightweights,Sound of Thunder, Classics, Pre-Injection, Sidecars and Formula 125

Keeping the spectators informed and amused will be the resident commentary team of ex-sidecar racer, Mose Hutchinson and Ian Robertson.

Bikes will be on the circuit for practice and qualifying from 9am on both days.

Admission is £10 for adults and is free for senior citizens and accompanied under-16s, and the paddock is open for everyone.
