There was medal success for Bronx Boxing Gym at the Eastern District Championships, held recently.

The Tranent gym had seven boxers entered into the competition, and won four gold medals and a silver.

Mach Murcoch was the first of the Bronx youngsters to take to the ring, and he won his semi-final in convincing fashion, before a superb final performance saw him claim gold.

Their golden haul was doubled by Max Rogerson, before Ben Cymber produced what was described by coach John McCallum as "his best display of boxing ever" to win the gold medal.

Bronx's fourth gold came courtesy of Daryl Brown, while Cameron McBeth also reached a final, but fell to his more experienced opponent.

The youngster did return to the Tranent gym with a creditable silver medal.

Promising youngster John McCallum and Tealor Snaith weren't matched at the competition, much to the disappointment of their coach, who described it as "pretty poor."

And their success continued at the weekend, when Brown added to his medals by winning gold at the Sottish Intermediate Championships.

Bronx team-mate Murdoch also took part, and continued his rich vein of form by winning silver.

John McCallum senior hailed their achievements, and said: "We can't ask for much more from team."
