Pupils from Loretto Junior School celebrated medal-winning success at the recent IAPS Scottish Preparatory Schools Ski Championships.

The team returned to Musselburgh with two gold and one silver medal following the event, held at Glenshee recently.

Pete Caughey was victorious in the U13 category, while the school's second victory came in the Open Team Event.

The quartet, of Caughey, Glen Crawford, Molly Paton and Lucy McNutt, won the coveted Mark Reynolds Cup.

The trophy has been contested since 1991, but this year's success was the first time Loretto have managed to get their hands on the trophy.

And in the U11s, Crawford's displays were good enough to see him finish in second place.

Jonathan Hewat, director of communications at Loretto School, was delighted with the youngsters' achievements.

He said: “This is a wonderful achievement by all the pupils who skied superbly against some stiff opposition.

"Our congratulations to all the pupils and many thanks to all the helpers and organisers.”
