COUNTY boxing sensation Josh Taylor made light work of his latest opponent last Friday evening, as he clinched a third professional success.

The Prestonpans star produced another ruthless performance as he stopped Daniel Cosman Minescu in the opening round in Belfast.

Taylor was destructive from the first bell, and the 24-year-old Commonwealth Games gold medallist had too much for his Romanian opponent.

It was a third straightforward victory for Taylor since he turned professional in the summer, after beating Archie Weah in Texas, and Adam Mate on home soil at Meadowbank last month.

Victory for Taylor, dubbed the Tartan Tornado, means he has fought just four rounds to claim three professional wins, with only Weah lasting to round two.

The county star is being trained by Shane McGuigan, brother of former world champion Barry McGuigan, who is Taylor’s manager.

The 24-year old former Preston Lodge High School pupil will now take a break from his training routines over the festive period, before returning to the ring early in the New Year.

Taylor’s next fight has not been confirmed, but he is widely expected to be on the undercard of Carl Frampton’s IBF and WBA world super bantamweight title fight with Scott Quigg at the Manchester Arena at the end of February.
