I would like to thank the two police officers who attended to my roadside assistance after my car broke down in Belhaven late Thursday afternoon (November 6).

It was cold, damp and getting dark and I had a passenger in the car with me, my mum.

I was very concerned for her as she is 84 and disabled.

The arrival of the two police officers was a godsend and they checked to see that we were both alright and the car was receiving breakdown recovery.

Due to the fact it was going to take some time to recover the car, the officer said that my mum needed to be safe and in a warm environment.

So, they decided to take her home in the police car and they did so and made sure she got into her house safely.

Police Scotland officers are not only there to make sure that we’re law-abiding, they are there for the safety and welfare of the public too.
