Kate Thomas’s letter of August 29 – ‘The saga of Dunbar crossings is ridiculous’ – surprised me.
What I found ridiculous was the original locations of the pedestrian crossings.
Emerging from West Port, left onto High Street, completing one’s turn while peering through a thicket of street furniture for anyone intending to use the crossing there, was not a pleasant experience and potentially dangerous, even at a very low speed.
Her logic was that because people wished to cross at these points that was where the crossings should be.
How nice for the pedestrians but what about the drivers?
She appears to have little consideration for them, expecting that they “take more care when approaching the junction. . .” Kate Thomas tries hard to justify herself but I am not surprised that her view to the community council was in the minority.
