I have just received a letter from Prestonpans Group Practice informing me that I have to seek registration with another set of doctors.
Reason? An awful lot of new houses and a concomitant rise in new patients. Upshot? Only patients within EH32 9 postcode to be accepted.
I was born in Prestonpans in 1948 and moved to Longniddry after marrying in 1999. It would appear that it gives a better shine on things that, rather than put up a ‘house full’ notice, it is better to hive off units and to free up space.
I object strenuously to this approach. Age and place of birth would appear to play no part in a moral and ethical attitude towards patient care.
People of East Lothian, wait for your marching orders. They will arrive!
