SINGING legend Sydney Devine has spoken of his heartbreak after his eldest son lost his fight against sepsis.
The Tiny Bubbles star was with Gary when he was struck with multiple organ failure which had been caused by sepsis.
Dad Gary, who was a general manager at car giants Arnold Clark, had been taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock with suspected food poisoning.
Country singer Sydney had hoped that his 58-year-old son would pull through as doctors fought for a week to save him.
Sadly Gary passed away in the intensive care unit on Friday afternoon surrounded by Sydney, his mum and siblings.
Sydney, 78, of Ayr, told the Scottish Sun: “We are devastated beyond words.
“All the family were at Gary’s bedside. We have been in hospital with him since Sunday.
“We kept thinking he was going to be alright but he just kept going downhill.
“It was utterly heartbreaking to watch Gary deteriorate right before our eyes but at least we were all with him at the end. Our hearts are broken.”
