A GRIEVING family has warned that ‘the truth will come out’ after a young man was stabbed to death at a party.

The 28-year-old named locally as Mario Capuano from Blackhill was found dead in Barmulloch yesterday afternoon.

Last night police could be seen swarming the area, with a section of Quarrywood Road cordoned off.

Forensic teams could also be seen with cameras entering and leaving a property where Mario was understood to have been stabbed.

Police were called to the scene close to Robroyston Park around 2.15pm yesterday after reports of a man being injured.

By the time emergency services arrived, he had passed away.

An investigation was launched surrounding the death, which is being treated as suspicious.

A number of addresses on Quarrywood Road and Zena Street were cordoned off as inquires continued into Sunday evening.

Officers were seen combing the local Robroyston Park and nearby woodland, which was also sealed off, while a police helicopter circled overhead.

Early reports suggest the man was stabbed in the neck at a property where there is thought to have been an ongoing party.

An area surrounding the Barmulloch Community Development Company was shut off by police but a local said cops were not treating the building as part of the crime scene.

Members of the man’s family were visibly upset and remained close to the police cordon.

They were too upset to discuss the incident – howeve, they warned that the “full story will come out” about their relatives death.

Residents on Quarrywood Road remained inside their house as police dealt with the incident.

One neighbour described the day as “just like any other Sunday” before emergency services raced to the scene.

The man who did not want to be named said: “The police just came racing down and there was a helicopter out looking for something.

“Next thing, the whole street was cordoned off.”

Another local, who didn’t want to be named, said that there had been trouble in the area in the past, commenting that it was “only a matter of time before someone was killed”.

One man who lives on Quarrywood Road said: “I had some friends round for food and out of nowhere there was just loads of police sirens.

“I keep myself to myself so I don’t really know much but there’s been other incidents in the past with people fighting and things so I’m not surprised.”

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “Around 2.15pm on Sunday October 8, police received a report of a 28-year-old man being injured in Quarrywood Road.

“Emergency services attended by the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“A post mortem examination will be carried out in due course.

“At this time his death is being treated as suspicious.”
