Tranent youngsters provided an evening of entertainment recently with the return of Recharge Has Got Talent.

The event followed a successful contest last year, and was organised by youngsters from the town’s Recharge youth group.

There was an impressive turnout of about 60 Fa’side youngsters last Monday evening, with the event hailed as a success once again. Savanna Gezi was the winner, performing her own song and playing the piano to take the title.

Recharge chairman Scott Glynn hosted the evening and he was impressed with the talent on display.

He said: “The acts were all fantastic and it is unbelievable how great their performances were.” Meanwhile, project manager Alan Bell told the Courier: “It was a really good night, with some exceptional talent on display, and the fact that it was the young people who organised the event themselves was fantastic, and a credit to the local community.

And there was a new award for the event, the Hosts’ Choice award, sponsored by Lammermuir Community Transport, which was won by Adam Cull, who impressed judges by singing and playing guitar.

The three-man judging panel for the event comprised two Recharge directors, James Bruce from Lammermuir Community Transport and Tranent Rotary Club, and David McNeill from Young Scot, plus Mr Fitzgerald, a guidance teacher at Ross High School.
