A Tranent teenager rubbed shoulders with showbiz royalty on Sunday evening at the MTV European Music Awards (EMAs) in Glasgow.

Caitlyn Vanbeck, a 17-year-old sixth year pupil at Ross High School and a former winner of Edinburgh’s Got Talent, was among a selected few given access to some of the biggest stars in music as they arrived for the event at The Hydro.

And the stars she met included Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran and LMFAO singer Redfoo, who even took to his own Twitter page to post a picture of himself with the county teenager – seen by his legion of more than a million followers on the social networking site.

And Caitlyn took to her own Twitter page to express her delight at meeting the multi-million album selling artist Sheeran, writing “JUST MET ED SHEERAN” moments before posting a succession of ‘selfies’ with her and Grande, musician Redfoo of chart-toppers LMFAO, and former X-Factor judge Sharon Osbourne.

And the 17-year-old was delighted at being given the chance to rub shoulders with the stars.

She told the Courier: “It was absolutely unreal – I had my heart set on meeting Ariana, and it was amazing. I cried a lot!

“I was there with my friend Richard, who looks a bit like Harry Styles, and Sharon Osbourne was joking with us that she thought it was Harry [Styles]!” And she explained how she got the opportunity to meet her idols.

“There were open auditions at The Hydro last Sunday, and you either got red carpet tickets, or tickets to the show – luckily I got both.

“It was really loud and hectic, but I managed to get myself to the front and I was even on TV a couple of times.” And her meeting with the stars in Glasgow comes just months after Caitlyn had a chance meeting with One Direction’s Zayn Malik outside the Usher Hall in Edinburgh.

Then, she described herself as “hysterical” after meeting Zayn while he was in the Capital with fiancee Perrie Edwards, of Little Mix, and said she was a “big Directioner”.
