TRANENT funnyman Scott Glynn is ready for his second 57-mile trek around East Lothian this weekend, plus six games of rugby for good measure.

The second annual Walk with Scott takes place tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday as Scott and his hardy band of walkers will be visiting all six rugby clubs in the county over two days all in aid of four core charities: Cahoonas, Bill McLaren Foundation, Teenage Cancer Trust and SAMH (Scottish Association Mental Health).

Starting off at Ross High, where Scott is club president, the group will walk to Haddington, then Dunbar and then to North Berwick, where they will sleep in tents for the night.

On Sunday they will walk to Preston Lodge, from where they will head to Musselburgh before finishing at Ross High.

“I’m ready, ready, ready,” Scott told the Courier. “The fact people have been training has been fantastic. I think people got a fright last year!

“Recently I got the train to North Berwick and walked to Prestonpans. People have been meeting now in little groups [to train]. It is all very friendly.

“I’m fair looking forward to it.” Scott has been left overwhelmed by the support he has received in the lead-up to Walk with Scott 2 as even more walkers are set to join him on different stages of the walk than last year, with touch rugby scheduled for each leg to get more people involved.

“Kids from Recharge are doing some sections, organisations are doing sections,” said Scott.

“East Coast Carpets are opening their shop in Gullane and going to have water for us. Fruits and Shoots will have stalls for us, they’ll have fruit peeled and cut up for us. RBG Fruits are providing fruit as well.

“A girl who used to be a physio at Ross High offered to set up a stall at some rugby clubs to help people with their legs. The clubs have been phenomenal again.

“It has just gone mental. People are wanting to do things. Cockenzie and Port Seton Pipe Band are playing for us at Prestonpans, Tranent Pipe Band will pipe us into Tranent. It has been brilliant.” Although Scott does not think there will be as much money raised for his charities as last year (£17,000-plus), he is not overly concerned.

“The fundraising is going well,” he said. “In our group page we have raised almost £2,000. It’s not just the money, it’s the awareness.
