JUNIOR chefs enjoyed the taste of success in a cookery competition held at Ross High School on Monday.

Primary school pupils from throughout the Tranent cluster were supported by S2 pupils at the Well Wynd high school during the cook-off, a heat of the third annual county-wide Little and Large Cookery Competition.

In teams of three, pupils had to create a healthy meal to be sampled by the judges.

A Ross High spokeswoman said: 'The aim of the competition is to link secondary and primary pupils in the joy of cooking as week as imparting valuable life skills. It also aims to raise awareness of the healthy eating message in a fun practical way.'

The winning team were Charlie Riddell and Holly Aris, from Saltoun Primary School, and S2 Ross High pupil Fiona Matheson (pictured), who will go on to represent the Tranent cluster in the final at Preston Lodge High School in Prestonpans on Wednesday.
