Record holder runs to award pupils

TRANENT-born world record holder George McNeill inspired pupils, staff and parents at Ross High School"s annual prizegiving.
Mr McNeill – who in 1970 achieved the world"s fastest 110-metre sprint, in 11 seconds, at Edinburgh"s Meadowbank stadium – was guest of honour at the Well Wynd school, presenting awards to S5/S6 pupils during a Celebration of Success evening.
A school spokeswoman said: 'The ceremony went extremely well, and Mr McNeill delivered a very positive, very inspirational speech for the audience.'

Pupils also received awards recognising their hard work and effort with various school projects and community schemes, organising hospitality and school events and involving younger children in the high school"s buddying scheme.
