A TEENAGER has been placed on supervision after admitting possessing Class A drugs during a search at a police station.

Nathan Cooke was taken to Dalkeith Police Station on an unrelated matter but was found to have a quantity of cocaine on his person when searched by officers.

Cooke, of Brae Cottages, Tranent, was also found to be in possession of a false driving licence during the search at the station on March 10 last year.

And seven months later, the teenager was then caught with a quantity of MDMA – commonly known as ecstasy – at an address in Dalkeith on October 1 last year.

The teenager admitted three charges when he appeared in the dock at Edinburgh Sheriff Court earlier this year and returned to the dock for sentencing on Monday.

Sheriff Nigel Ross placed Cooke on 18 months of supervision and told him he must complete 135 hours of unpaid work in the community.

Last month the 18-year-old was cleared of more serious charges when his not guilty pleas to assaulting Greg Cooke by punching, kicking and stamping on the man’s head were accepted by the Crown.

Also dropped was a claim Cooke had allegedly threatened to kill Mr Cooke by stabbing him on March 10 last year, as well as a charge of attempting to kick Megan Cooke.

Cooke admitted possessing cocaine and a false driving licence at Dalkeith Police Station on March 10 last year, as well as possessing MDMA at an address in Dalkeith on October 1 last year.
