A MOUNTAIN bike worth over £2,000 has been stolen after a break-in to a garage in Tranent on Sunday night.

Police are appealing for witnesses after thieves forced their way into the garage on Moffat Walk sometime between 10.50pm and 11.25pm and stole the Turquoise Yeti Mountain Bike.

Police Constable Chris Hutchison from Tranent Police Station said: "I would appeal for anyone with information or anyone who may have seen any suspicious behaviour in the area on Sunday, to come forward.

"Equally anyone who has seen, or been offered, the stolen bike is asked to report this to officers as soon as possible.

"I would urge people to remain vigilant and secure their belongings and property, ensuring windows and doors are securely locked."
