A TEENAGE driver is due in court after he was charged in connection with an alleged attempted murder in Tranent.
The 19-year-old is expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court later today.
It follows an incident in the town's Church Street yesterday which saw two men aged 22 and 48 involved in a collision with a Ford Fiesta.
Police were called to the scene shortly before 4pm and the road was shut for several hours.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “The 48-year-old was taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, where he is detained in a serious condition. The 22-year-old also sustained minor injuries.
“Officers wish to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident. Those with information are asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2313 of July 16.”
