A TRANENT man has been banned from disturbing his neighbours for two years after a court was handed a dossier of complaints stretching back over a year.

Lewis Williams, 22, of Northfield, has been given a two year ban which prohibits him from shouting, swearing, playing television or sound making devices excessively loud, having more than two visitors at any given time and banging and thumping in his flat.

An Anti Social Behaviour Order (ASBO) granted against Williams at Edinburgh Sheriff Court also bans him from letting other people disturb his neighbours in a similar way.

The court was told Williams had a history of antisocial behaviour within East Lothian and complaints dated back to January 2016.

East Lothian Council’s Safer Communities Team worked with Police Scotland to compile the evidence presented to the court.

A council spokesperson said: “The council always takes complaints about anti social behaviour very seriously.

"Mr Williams’ behaviour resulted in a number of complaints being made to both our Safer Communities Team and to Police Scotland. We will not hesitate in pursuing legal action in order to ensure that East Lothian residents are not subjected to behaviour that causes them alarm and distress.”
