TRANENT singer and X Factor contender Caitlyn Vanbeck helped launch festivities at a Glasgow shopping centre last night after making a surprise appearance.

Caitlyn stunned shoppers as she belted out "All I want for Christmas" and "Christmas (Baby please come home) ", with support from local choir, Soul Nation.

The surprise performance was organised by shopping mall Silverburn to celebrate the launch of its Christmas programme.

David Pierotti, general manager of Silverburn, said: "There's nothing quite like a Christmas choir to get you into the festive spirit, which is why we invited Caitlyn and her fantastic backing singers to serenade our shoppers with some classic Christmas songs."

Caitlyn said she loved surprising shopper with her performance adding it was "so much fun".

The singer is busy in the run-up to Christmas with appearances at the switch on of lights booked for Stirling, Clydebank and Falkirk, in the coming weeks, and she revealed there are others in the pipeline which have yet to be confirmed.
