TRANENT singer Caitlyn Vanbeck will join boyband Union J on the Scottish leg of their UK tour following her appearance on this year’s The X Factor.

Caitlyn, 18, who made it to judge Simon Cowell’s house in this year’s show before being sent home, has been revealed as a surprise support act for the band when they are performing in Scotland in February.

The teenager has confessed she is unlikely to audition for The X Factor again after failing to make it through to live shows for a second year running.

She said: “I honestly would have to have a huge think – it’s so emotionally exhausting and very hard.”

Despite her disappointment at not being chosen by mentor Cowell to go to the live shows, Caitlyn was delighted to be invited to join Union J, who were X Factor semi-finalists four years ago, on their tour, and will support them in Glasgow and Edinburgh.

She has also signed up for a spooky appearance at Hallowscream UK, on Bonfire Night. The annual event mixes fireworks with zombies, a haunted house and live music, and is held in Surrey.

Meanwhile, Cowell sparked speculation about whether there would be a return for one of the failed finalists after launching his own online poll.

The music mogul asked social media followers which of the acts that had just missed out on the finals they wanted to see return, insisting it was ‘just for fun’.

Many of Caitlyn’s followers were devastated when she was not put through to the live shows by Cowell, after consistently winning praise from him for her performances.

Viewers saw Caitlyn audition in Malibu at the weekend in front of Cowell and former Spice Girls Mel B and Emma Bunton.

Despite faltering at the start of the song, she was again given huge praise for her audition, before being told she had not made the final three.
