TRANENT singer Caitlyn Vanbeck failed to reach the live shows of X Factor after facing a tough final audition in front of mentor Simon Cowell.

The 18-year-old stumbled under the pressure and forgot her lyrics as she sang in front of Cowell, who was joined by Spice Girls Mel B and Emma Bunton, as he chose his final three girls for the competition.

Despite the stumble, she recovered to finish her performance and received praise from Cowell, who told her she had the potential to be amazing.

Emma Bunton described Caitlyn's control of her voice as 'crazy'.

Caitlyn said: "I've just wanted this so much for so long. I don't want to go home yet."

She said she faltered while performing after losing herself in the song.

Fighting back tears, Caitlyn said: "It was the pressure. I just got lost in the song. I was gutted."

It was a tough decision for Cowell who admitted he had not expected the seven girls who made the final auditions to be as good as they were.

He described the decision not to take Caitlyn through as horrible.

He told Caitlyn: "I think you're close, I think your voice is extraordinary, but for now it is a no.

"I am really sorry, you are a nice person and I don't want you to go away thinking you did bad, you didn't."
