POP supergroup McBusted have sent a touching message to inspirational county teenager Rebecca Dalgleish.

The six-piece band have just finished the Australian leg of their ‘Most Excellent Adventure Tour’ and will be starting their British tour with a double-header at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow next month.

The band – made up of members from McFly, as well as Busted’s Matt Willis and James Bourne – posted the message last week to Rebecca, who was diagnosed with terminal cancer earlier this year, after the Courier got in touch to see if they could help cross an item off Rebecca’s bucket list.

They said: “Hi Rebecca, we are McBusted and we are in Adelaide, Australia, on tour with [One Direction].

“We are having lots of fun and just wanted to send you lots of love and positive thoughts down the camera.

“So, we are thinking of you Rebecca and sending you all the love in the world.” The 45-second video then ends with the members of McFly and Busted, famous for hits such as 5 Colours In Her Hair, One For The Radio, Air Hostess and Year 3000, blowing a kiss to the camera and waving goodbye.

The 17-year-old, from Kingston, near North Berwick, saw the video for the first time on Monday morning.

A smiling Rebecca said: “That was really good.

“It was a big surprise.

“Tom was my favourite member of McFly but my mum stole him so I have to say Danny is my favourite!” The teenager, who is looking to raise as much money as possible for Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS), is going to see the band on the second night of their tour in Glasgow on March 13.

The Courier got in touch with McBusted after spotting ‘meet and have a professional photo shoot with McFly’ on Rebecca’s bucket list.

Senior reporter Cameron Ritchie said: “Out of all the things on the list, we thought this one might be the most challenging to tick off.

“However, I went to school with someone who works in the music industry in London and he sent out some feelers.

“Then, earlier this week, he got back to me with the video message.

“It just goes to show that there are always good people out there who are willing to show their support.

“It’s not quite the professional photo shoot but I was glad that it put a smile on Rebecca’s face.” The teenager was diagnosed with a malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumour (MPNST), which she nicknamed Monty, earlier this year.

But it was not just McBusted who got in touch with the teenager.

Rebecca, a member of the 132 (North Berwick) Squadron Air Training Corps, travelled to Dundee, where she was met by Carol Vorderman, who is an Honorary Group Captain in the RAF Air Cadets.

The former Countdown star flew up from Gloucestershire to meet Rebecca and described her spirit as “truly amazing”.

She said: “When I first heard about Rebecca I thought what a wonderful, wonderful young person – and she is.

“She has done so much so far, even before she knew that she was ill she was a fantastic air cadet anyway.

“She has just constantly got a smile on her face and I read a lot about her and what her officers were saying about her and other members of her squadron.

“She is a fantastic girl and I thought I have got to come up and see her.” The teenager was presented with two top awards, a rare Special Commendation from Commandant Air Cadets, for her inspirational bravery in the face of insurmountable personal challenge, and the Andy Swierczek Award for her determination.

The awards – plus a limited edition print signed by the Red Arrows – were presented by the TV star and Scotland’s regional air cadet commander, Jim Leggat.

Rebecca was given a four-aircraft flypast by the Tayside Aviation Grob Formation Team.

She was also given the chance to fly a four-seater airplane, alongside a pilot and her mum and dad.

Rebecca’s Commanding Officer, Flt Lt Ian Edmans, said: “Rebecca has powered through and has been swimming and running. She puts in the time and is very committed to the squadron.

“Her news has been a shock to everyone but typical of her character, just after receiving her bad news that her illness was terminal, she immediately decided to raise money for CHAS.

“Becky is the sort of cadet who would stand outside all weekend doing fundraising for the poppy collection and she is a stalwart – a real trooper.

“She had chemotherapy and radiotherapy and was even doing her air cadet syllabus work in her hospital bed last year – she was promoted whilst in hospital.“ That rounded off a memorable weekend for the teenager, who also appeared on British Forces Broadcast Service radio last Thursday.

Then, she was presented with the Cadet of the Week – Above and Beyond award for her tireless fundraising for CHAS.

The teenager said: “It was really good. [Presenter Mark McKenzie] asked me questions and I’ve been told by various people that I came across quite well.

“Since then, there has been a donation from Cyprus.” To make a donation to CHAS go to www.justgiving.com/Rebecca-Dalgleish. To read Becky’s blog, go to beccadalgleish.wordpress.com
