THE body of a man was discovered in the sea beside Cockenzie Power Station on Monday morning.

Fisherrow Coastguard alerted police after spotting the man in the water shortly after 8am.

Police said the man, who is understood to be local, was declared dead at the scene and there were no suspicious circumstances.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police in East Lothian responded to a body of water near the Cockenzie Power Station on Monday where the body of a man was recovered.

“Enquiries are ongoing; however, there appear to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding this incident.”
