CHANGES to two bus routes in East Lothian will be made early next month.

East Lothian Council and Prentice Coaches have been working closely together for several months to improve bus services in the county.

Changes will be made to the 110 and 123 service routes, starting on November 3.

The 110 service will become an hourly service and will go to the Lidl supermarket on Prestonpans High Street, with selected journeys extended to Port Seton, and a bus designed to take workers to and from Elphinstone Research Centre at appropriate times.

The Sunday service will be reduced due to lack of use.

The 123 service will also be improved, with extra journeys added, as well as linking up better to commuter buses from Edinburgh, which are currently missed by a few minutes.

Michael Veitch, council transport spokesperson, described the changes as “sensible amendments”.

He said: “Extending the 110 to Port Seton in response to popular demand recreates the direct link between there and Tranent, while on the 123 we have been able to provide a much-improved timetable for the communities around Haddington and Gifford.” The new timetables are on the Prentice Coaches website, and paper copies will be distributed on buses on the current routes.
