TRANENT bowling ace Alex Marshall has claimed his second gold medal of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games - while Prestonpans boxer Josh Taylor will go for gold tomorrow (Saturday) after semi-final victory.
Marshall had earlier this week won the pairs with best friend and former East Lothian team-mate Paul Foster and the two joined up with Neil Speirs and David Peacock in the fours final, where they produced another impressive performance to defeat England 16-8 and clinch gold.
Victory in the fours clinched the host nation’s 15th gold medal, with Taylor hoping to add to that total tomorrow.
The Prestonpans boxer beat his friend Sam Maxwell of England in his semi-final to book his place in the gold medal match tomorrow.
Taylor was in imperious form in the opening two rounds, dominating his opponent to take the lead into the last round.
Although Maxwell battled back to put himself in contention, the Prestonpans star held on to secure his place in the gold medal match.
