TWO East Lothian railway stations are getting into the Commonwealth Games spirit by changing their names for the event.

To celebrate the international event, which starts on Wednesday, Longniddry and Musselburgh will become ‘Longerniddry’ and ‘Muscleburgh’.

ScotRail is an official supporter of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and Team Scotland.

Kirsty Marchant, Longniddry and Musselburgh stations team manager, said: “Excitement is building for the Games and we’re proud to be playing our part in helping the local community feel part of it.

“Hosting the Games is a once-in-a-generation opportunity so hopefully our new, fun signs add to the experience and memories people have of Glasgow 2014.” However, they are not the only ScotRail stations getting in on the act.

The other stations to be renamed in honour of some of the Games’ 17 sports are: Cambuslang(jump), Dingwall (Ding!Ding!Wall), Falkirk High(er), Polmont (Polevault) and Springburn (Sprintburn).
