A HEALTHY appetite helped 32 people win vouchers for county restaurants.

Between February 10 and March 23, diners ate their way around East Lothian’s restaurants and cafes to be entered into a prize draw to win a share of £1,600-worth of Eat East Lothian dining vouchers.

Diners who spent £20 or more in participating businesses were entered into the draw, with the promotion enjoying a 29 per cent increase in people taking part compared to last year.

The draw was carried out by Councillor John McMillan, cabinet spokesperson for economic development and tourism, last month, with 32 lucky winners receiving a £50 voucher.

Mr McMillan said: “I’m delighted that this promotion has been more popular than ever this year. There appears to have been a good mix of local people frequenting their favourite places or maybe discovering a new favourite and people from outwith East Lothian sampling the delights of our excellent local cuisine.

“It’s been a great success all round and I hope the lucky winners enjoy spending their vouchers.” The winners had received cards from the following participating restaurants: The Mercat Bar & Grill; The Castle Inn; The Avenue Restaurant; Archerfield Walled Garden; Waterside Bistro; The Royal Mackintosh; The Volunteer Arms; Nether Abbey; The Creel; The Longniddry Inn; La Potiniere; The Golf Tavern; Scottish Seabird Centre; Duck’s; East Links Cafe; and The Linton.
