Funding windfall for charities

Four East Lothian charities have secured funding in the latest round of awards from Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland.
A total of £17,760 will be split between the four county groups, with all the funding be used to help pay salary costs.
Carers of East Lothian has received £5,000 towards the salary of their rural carers support worker, with Hollies day centre committee also receiving £5,000 which will be used to help pay the salary of the part-time Dementia Unit Co-worker.
A third award of £5,000 has gone to Headway East Lothian, towards the salary of a development worker, and Stepping Out has received the final award of £2,760 to cover the cost of the Sessional Worker for the Healing Garden project for people with mental health issues.
Mary Craig OBE, chief executive of Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland, said: "It is small local charities like these that make a huge difference to the day to day lives of people in communities across Scotland. We're delighted to be able to fund this work in East Lothian, and know that the benefits it will bring will far outweigh the actual monetary value of our awards."
This funding is part of the Foundation's latest awards to charities across Scotland which saw 37 charities share a total of over £154,000.
