A 68-YEAR-OLD woman was taken to hospital with numerous injuries on Saturday following a road collision near Fenton Barns.

The accident, involving a silver Ford Fusion and a blue Mercedes ML, happened at about 11am on the B1345.

The driver of the Ford - aged 68 - was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with a fractured back, collapsed lung and leg injuries which were not believed to be life-threatening.

Three people in the other car were not injured. A fire crew from North Berwick attended as one of the cars had sparked alight, but it had been extinguished before they arrived.

The road was closed by police and re-opened at 2.40pm.
