POLICE are hunting thieves who broke into a Musselburgh chemist and walked off with a quantity of potentially lethal prescription drugs.
The Co-op Pharmacy on the town's North High Street suffered a break-in some time between 5pm on Saturday and 8am on Monday.
Quantities of diazepam and dihydrocodeine were taken from the shelves.
A police spokesperson said: "The obvious risks apply and these could be harmful to persons taking them without the appropriate medical advice and care."
Police are appealing for anyone who saw or heard any activity in the vicinity of the property either prior to, or during, the time of the incident, to come forward and contact them on 0131 311 3131.
Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers in complete anonymity on 0800 555 111.
