FUNDRAISERS at Mercat Gait raised more than £2,000 to provide a defibrillator for the centre – and had cash left over to make a donation of their own.
Staff at the centre took part in a triathlon last month to help buy the life-saving device.
The machine cost £1,200 but staff raised an amazing £2,045 on the day.
The additional £845 was given to Harlaw Hill Day Centre by the Mercat Gait team.
Jamie Bruce swam half a mile, cycled 26.2 miles and then ran a half-marathon distance of 13.1 miles, while fellow fundraisers Stephanie Fee, Sheila McEwan and Anneke Vossen-Smith each swam half a mile, cycled 13.1 miles and then ran 6.2 miles to raise cash.
Harlaw Hill manager Julie Aitken said the money would go into the centre’s entertainments fund for its clients.
She said: “We are so grateful to these wonderful folk.
“Harlaw Hill will be singing and dancing for a good few months to come, thanks to their fantastic effort on our behalf.”
