WELL-known authors are coming to Cockenzie House and Gardens for its first ever book festival.

Write By The Shore will celebrate some of the best writers from the worlds of crime fiction to children’s novels and historical fact.

Featuring local authors including Dunbar-born Rosemary Goring, Musselburgh’s Marie Macpherson and Drem crime writer Ed James, the two-day festival will be chaired by well-known author and columnist Roddy Martine.

The festival, which starts on Saturday, November 1, will also feature an open mic session when local authors will be invited to take centre stage and give readings from their own work.

Anyone who wants to take part is welcome to go along.

The open mic session is being held on the Sunday at the close of the two day festival.

The Sunday session will also see children’s authors and illustrators Evelyn Morrison and Debi Gliori take part in afternoon sessions.

The festival hopes to further establish Cockenzie House and Gardens as a centre for the arts and is expected to attract a high number of visitors to the community over the weekend.
