A PRESTONPANS artist has been chosen to produce an art exhibition to promote the town in the 21st century.

Kerry Henderson was picked to represent the town in art form after she won the Lord Novar Fellowship from the Baron of Prestoungrange earlier this year.

The talented artist is to hold the exhibition at The Gothenburg pub in July.

And prior to that show, Kerry will be holding her own solo exhibition at Prestonpans Library from today (Friday) to December 24.

Kerry, 40, is a designer for the Scottish Field magazine, having studied Art and Design, specialising in Graphic Design, at Telford College, Edinburgh.

After graduating, she moved into the digital world and has only recently began painting again after a gap of 18 years.

A chance conversation with a friend informed her about the Three Harbours Festival and her featured painting 'Boy in the Longboat' sold quickly after being on display at Prestonpans Library.

Following that success, Kerry was approached by the Prestonpans head librarian and asked to put on her own exhibition, which she has been working on for the past three months.

She has also recently produced three paintings that were exhibited at the Homes and Interiors Scotland Show in Glasgow in August.

The designer has recently moved house to set up her own studio and is delighted to be back in front of the easel again.

She said: "It's great to be back painting and to sell my first painting in a while was a lovely feeling. I'm so looking forward to my first exhibition at the library, which will focus on people I've met travelling over the last decade.

"I work voluntarily with the local church and for next year's exhibition at the Gothenburg I'm asking kids from the town what Prestonpans means to them in the 21st century, whether it be their favourite place or personal memory."
