DREICH weather failed to put a dampener on the annual Prestonpans children"s gala.
The parade on Saturday - complete with fancy dress costumes, colourful floats and even Harley Davidson motorbike riders - topped off an exciting week of activities and events.
For children"s gala convenor James Yule, in his 35th year of helping to run the event, it was the biggest and best parade yet.
He said: 'It was an excellent event and people certainly made the best of it despite the disappointing weather. The parade was a great spectacle, particularly the 25 Harley Davidson riders. They went down a storm.'
Events during the week proved just as popular. The darts tournament held at the Royal British Legion attracted a record 56 entrants, with Jim Greenock of Prestonpans Labour Club emerging as champion.
Prestonpans gala committee"s Joan McLeod said her gala week highlights included the visit of the Singing Kettle"s Gary Copeland to the community centre, and the pensioners" entertainment evening.
'The children really enjoyed the Singing Kettle,' she said.
'The Cowboys and Indians float on gala day was also spectacular. There was so much work put into it. The rain failed to spoil what was an excellent afternoon.'
Mr Yule, also chairman of Prestonpans Community Council, thanked everyone who made the events such a success.
'There was a great effort to decorate houses and floats and I"d also like to commend the behaviour of everyone, both spectators and participants, involved.'
