A COUNTY pensioner has been banned from being along with a child he admitted assaulting.
Brian McKenzie will not be allowed to be alone with the child or contact the child unless an adult is present.
The 68-year-old has also been placed on a supervision order until the child is 16 years old.
McKenzie, currently of Fowlers Court, Prestonpans, has also been told he cannot stay at a property in Port Seton between the hours of 10pm and 8am.
The OAP was at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Wednesday after sentence had previously been deferred.
Sheriff Peter McCormack heard that McKenzie was “engaging on a voluntary basis with an alcohol agency” and he had been deemed a suitable candidate for receiving support.
Sheriff McCormack sentenced McKenzie to a supervision order for a period of two years, as well as issuing a conduct requirement prohibiting him from contacting or approaching the child unless supervised by an adult.
McKenzie admitted assaulting the child by pushing him on the body, causing him to strike his head against a bathroom sink at an address in Port Seton between January 1, 2013 and December 31, 2015.
